1. SFR launched its own ADSL offer in April 2008 by renting NRA access to Neuf Telecom. In June 2008, SFR start merging with Neuf Telecom and will reinforce their Internet customer base to launch convergeant service.

  1. Free (Iliad) is currently trying to grow regarding other competitor by purchasing other ISP like telecom Italia (source). In addition Free remains interested in France's fourth third-generation mobile phone license (source).

Current context :

  1. The French government has asked telecommunications regulator Arcep to weigh the relative benefits of granting all the frequencies earmarked for the license to one company or splitting them up between more than one operator. Arcep should provide public consultation results available next 30 September 2008.
  2. French ISP market is in evolution, we will have modification in term of player (concentration) and in term of offer and market share.

  1. Orange (ex Wanadoo) ~46% market share in June 2008, > 6,4 millions internet subscriber
  2. SFR (Tele2 + Neuf Cegetel) ~24% market share in June 2008, > 3millions internet subscriber
  3. Bouygues Telecom ~0% market share in June 2008 (they will launch internet offer in september 2008)
  4. Free (Iliad) ~25% market share after purchase Alice (Telecom Italia)
  5. Numericable ~4% market share
  6. Other ~1% market share.
